전라남도는 나주시 왕곡면에 위치한 ‘에코왕곡마을’을 10월의 농촌체험휴양마을로 선정했다고 밝혔다.
‘에코왕곡마을’은 이름 그대로 자원순환과 녹색생활을 주제로 한 친환경 체험마을이다. 마을에서는 로컬푸드를 활용한 브런치 뷔페, 계절별 농산물 수확 체험, 목공예·업사이클링 체험, 반려견 동반 힐링캠프 등 다채로운 프로그램을 운영하며 ‘에코 여행지’로 각광받고 있다.
마을에는 숙박시설과 공동취사장, 교육실, 족욕장 등 각종 부대시설이 갖춰져 있어 방문객들이 편안하게 머물 수 있다.
가을철에는 배·감 등 제철 농산물을 직접 수확하는 체험이 가능하며, 특히 임금님께 진상됐던 ‘나주배 수확 및 수제청 만들기’ 체험이 큰 인기를 끈다.
또한 아이들과 함께 즐길 수 있는 감 샐러드·피자 만들기, 목공 체험 등 가족 단위 프로그램이 다양하게 마련돼 있다.
특히 반려견 간식과 장난감 만들기 등 반려견 체험 프로그램은 높은 호응을 얻고 있으며, 반려견 전용 놀이공간도 조성돼 있어 ‘어서오시개 힐링캠프’라는 별칭으로 불릴 정도로 인기가 높다.
주변에는 나주국립박물관, 나주영상테마파크, 반남고분, 천연염색문화관, 우습제 등 풍부한 관광자원이 인접해 있어 1박 2일 에코 체험 여행지로 손색이 없다.
김현미 전남도 농업정책과장은 “에코왕곡마을은 전국 1,200여 개 농촌체험휴양마을 가운데 ‘스타마을 20선’에 선정된 인기 체험마을”이라며 “많은 분들이 방문해 다양한 체험과 에코라이프를 경험하길 바란다.”고 말했다.
한편 전남도는 현재 172개소의 농촌체험휴양마을을 운영 중이며, 연간 약 130만 명이 방문하고 있다.
도는 앞으로도 매월 우수 마을을 선정해 농촌 소득 증대와 정주 여건 개선을 위한 홍보·지원 활동을 지속할 계획이다.

Jeonnam Province Selects “Eco Wanggok Village” in Naju as the Rural Experience and Recreation Village of October
Local food buffet, upcycling workshops, and healing camps for pets make it a popular eco-travel destination
Jeollanam-do Province announced that it has selected Eco Wanggok Village in Wanggok-myeon, Naju, as its “Rural Experience and Recreation Village of the Month” for October.
As its name suggests, Eco Wanggok Village is an eco-friendly experience village themed around resource recycling and sustainable living. The village offers a variety of programs, including a local food brunch buffet, seasonal crop harvesting, woodworking and upcycling workshops, and healing camps for visitors accompanied by pets—earning its reputation as a top “eco-travel destination.”
The village is well-equipped with lodging facilities, a communal kitchen, classrooms, and footbaths, allowing visitors to enjoy a comfortable stay.
During the autumn season, guests can participate in hands-on experiences such as harvesting seasonal fruits like pears and persimmons. In particular, the “Naju Pear Harvest and Handmade Syrup Workshop,” which highlights the region’s famed pears once presented to kings, has become a favorite activity.
Families with children can also enjoy a variety of programs, including making persimmon salads, pizzas, and woodworking crafts.
Programs designed for pets—such as making dog treats and toys—are especially popular. The village even features a dedicated play area for pets, earning it the nickname “Welcome Paw Healing Camp.”
Nearby attractions include the Naju National Museum, Naju Image Theme Park, Bannam Ancient Tombs, the Natural Dyeing Culture Center, and Useupje Reservoir, making it an ideal destination for a one- or two-day eco-themed getaway.
Kim Hyun-mi, Director of the Agricultural Policy Division of Jeonnam Province, stated,
“Eco Wanggok Village is one of the ‘Top 20 Star Villages’ among more than 1,200 rural experience and recreation villages nationwide. We hope many visitors will come to experience the variety of programs and the eco-lifestyle the village offers.”
Currently, Jeonnam Province operates 172 rural experience and recreation villages, attracting about 1.3 million visitors annually. The province plans to continue selecting and promoting outstanding villages each month to boost rural incomes and improve living conditions.
