조국혁신당 목포시지역위, 조국 대표 광복절 특별사면 환영… “정치탄압의 어두운 터널 끝에서 맞이한 자유”

조국혁신당 목포시지역위원회(위원장 박용안)는 8월 15일 광복절 자정, 조국혁신당 조국 대표의 특별사면과 석방을 진심으로 환영하며, 이를 기념하기 위한 유튜브 생중계 시청 및 자발적 환영 행사를 진행했다.

이날 새벽 목포시 당원들과 지지자들은 조 대표의 출소 장면을 지켜보며 눈시울을 붉혔다.

박용안 위원장은 “조국 대표는 시대의 양심이자, 정치검찰의 칼날에 쓰러졌던 정의의 상징이었다.”며 “그의 자유는 단순한 개인의 석방이 아닌, 오랜 정치탄압의 어둠을 뚫고 다시 피어난 진실의 빛”이라고 강조했다.

이어 “목포시지역위원회는 조국 대표의 복권을 계기로 더욱 강한 조직력으로 당원 배가운동, 지역경제 살리기, 그리고 사회봉사 활동에 앞장설 것”이라 밝혔다.

조국 대표는 이날 서울남부교도소 앞에서 국민께 인사를 전하며 “오늘의 사면과 복권은 검찰 권력의 오남용이라는 한국 정치의 오래된 병폐에 경종을 울리는 헌법적 결단이었다.”고 소회를 밝혔다.

또한 “이 모든 길고 고통스러웠던 시간은 결코 저 개인의 문제가 아니었다.

수많은 시민이 함께 견뎌주셨고, 그 지지와 연대가 저를 버티게 했다”고 말했다.

그는 특히 “이 모든 과정에서 종교계 지도자, 시민사회 원로, 전직 국회의장, 국내외 학자·교수님들께서 보여주신 따뜻한 지지에 깊이 감사드린다.”며, “비판의 목소리 또한 민주주의 사회의 중요한 구성요소로서, 진심으로 경청하겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

조국 대표의 석방은 단순한 형사적 사건의 마무리가 아니라, 권력기관의 개혁과 민주주의 회복을 요구하는 시민들의 열망이 만들어낸 결과로 받아들여지고 있다.

조국혁신당 목포시지역위원회는 이 날을 “민주주의의 또 하나의 광복”이라 명명하며, 조국 대표의 정치적 복권과 함께 새로운 도약의 시기를 준비하고 있다.

Chairman Cho also expressed his deep gratitude to religious leaders, elders in civil society, former National Assembly speakers, and scholars both in Korea and abroad for their unwavering support throughout his ordeal. “I also respect the voices of those who have criticized my pardon. I listen to their concerns with a spirit of humility and respect,” he added.
