더불어민주당 명현관 해남군수 예비후보가 제104회 어린이날을 맞아 지역 곳곳을 돌며 아이와 가족, 어르신이 함께하는 공동체 현장을 찾는 민생 행보를 이어갔다.

명 예비후보는 5일 화원 오일장을 시작으로 마산 송석마을회관 나들이, 양무리교회 전교인 체육대회(우슬체육관), 북평 와룡·송지 신기·해남읍 호천·구교·현산 읍호·마산 상등·옥천 백호마을 경로잔치, 해남공룡박물관 어린이날 기념행사 등을 차례로 방문하며 주민들과 직접 소통했다.

이날 현장 행보는 단순한 기념일 참석을 넘어, 아이와 가족, 지역 공동체가 함께 살아가는 해남의 미래 방향성을 강조하는 자리로 이어졌다.
명 예비후보는 “아이들의 웃음이 하루의 이벤트로 끝나서는 안 된다”며 “어린이를 존중하는 사회가 결국 지역의 미래 경쟁력과 도시의 품격을 결정한다”고 밝혔다.

이어 어린이날의 의미를 만든 소파 방정환 선생의 정신을 언급하며 “어린이를 하나의 독립된 인격체로 존중해야 한다는 철학이 오늘의 정책과 일상 속에서 실현돼야 한다”고 강조했다.

명 예비후보는 마을 경로잔치와 어린이 행사 현장을 함께 찾은 배경에 대해 “아이와 어르신이 자연스럽게 어울리는 공동체가 건강한 지역의 모습”이라며 “세대 간 단절이 아닌 연결 속에서 해남의 미래가 자라난다.”고 말했다.

또한 “아이들이 마음껏 뛰놀고 스스로 꿈을 키울 수 있는 환경이 지역사회의 최소한의 책임”이라며 “놀이·배움·돌봄·안전이 유기적으로 연결된 아동친화도시 해남으로 전환해 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
이를 위해 ▲방과후 돌봄체계 확대 ▲생활권 중심 놀이터 및 체험공간 확충 ▲문화·체육 프로그램 강화 ▲안전한 통학 및 보행환경 개선 등 실질적 체감형 정책 추진 방향도 제시했다.

명 예비후보는 “5월은 가족의 의미를 다시 돌아보는 시간”이라며 “가정이 첫 번째 사회인 만큼 지역 역시 함께 돌보고 책임을 나누는 공동체가 돼야 한다.”고 강조했다.

이어 “모든 아이가 걱정 없이 자라고 존중받는 환경을 만드는 것이 곧 해남의 미래를 만드는 일”이라며 “한 명, 한 명의 삶이 소중하게 존중받는 해남을 위해 더욱 낮은 자세로 군민 곁에 다가가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

어린이날은 단순한 축제가 아니라 사회의 수준과 공동체의 방향을 보여주는 기준이다. 아이를 어떻게 대하느냐가 곧 지역의 품격을 말해준다.

“Children’s rights must not end as a one-day celebration, but become part of everyday life.”
Myung Hyun-kwan, preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party for Haenam County Governor, spent Children’s Day visiting communities across the region, emphasizing a vision of a caring and inclusive Haenam where children, families, and seniors coexist together.
On May 5, Myung began his schedule at the Hwawon traditional market before attending an outing at Songsuk Village Hall in Masan, the Yangmuri Church sports festival at Usul Sports Complex, senior citizens’ gatherings in Waryong (Bukpyeong), Singi (Songji), Hocheon and Gugyo (Haenam-eup), Eupho (Hyeonsan), Sangdeung (Masan), and Baekho (Okcheon), as well as the Children’s Day celebration at the Haenam Dinosaur Museum. Throughout the day, he met directly with residents and listened to local voices.
The visits went beyond symbolic participation in commemorative events, serving instead as an opportunity to present a future vision for Haenam centered on community, family, and children.
Myung stated, “Children’s smiles must not remain a one-day event. A society that respects children ultimately determines the future competitiveness and dignity of a region.”
Referring to the philosophy of children’s rights advocate Bang Jeong-hwan, who established the meaning of Children’s Day in Korea, Myung emphasized, “The principle of respecting children as independent individuals must now be realized in both policy and everyday life.”
Explaining why he attended both senior citizens’ gatherings and children’s events, Myung said, “A healthy community is one where children and seniors naturally interact together. Haenam’s future grows through connection between generations, not division.”
He further stressed, “Providing an environment where children can freely play and pursue their dreams is the minimum responsibility of a community,” adding that Haenam should transition into a child-friendly city where play, learning, caregiving, and safety are organically connected.
To achieve this, he proposed practical policy directions including:
Expansion of after-school childcare systems
Development of neighborhood playgrounds and experiential spaces
Strengthening cultural and sports programs
Improvement of safe school commuting and pedestrian environments
Myung also noted, “May is a time to reflect on the meaning of family. Since the family is the first form of society, the local community must also share responsibility in caring for one another.”
He concluded, “Creating an environment where every child can grow up safely and with dignity is ultimately about building Haenam’s future. I will continue approaching residents with humility to create a community where every single life is valued and respected.”
Children’s Day is not merely a celebration—it is a measure of a society’s maturity and direction. How a community treats its children ultimately reflects the dignity of the region itself.
